Advicenow- Is that Discrimination?
Advicenow is a nationwide online service which offers advice and information leaflets and articles on a wide range of topics, including benefits, immigration, and employment. They have information for cohabiting couples, including same-sex couples, in their Living Together section. They also have a section called Is that Discrimination? which offers information about discrimination issues and can answer enquiries from individuals.

Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS)
Aims to improve organisations and working life through better employment relations. They provide up-to-date information, independent advice, training and work with employers and employees to solve problems and improve performance. Many individual cases are resolved by ACAS without reaching an employment tribunal.

Bar Pro Bono Unit
Volunteers barristers provide advice and representation at court or tribunal hearings for those who cannot get legal aid but cannot afford to pay privately. The Unit consists of about 1,400 volunteers, including QCs. They also have a panel of solicitors who provide free legal advice.

Central London Law Centre
The Central London Law centre has been funded by the Equalities and Human Rights Commission to provide employment discrimination advice. Please note: they cannot offer their services to those with high salaries, or those who are trade union members (as those members should be advised by their union representatives).

Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB)
Citizens Advice Bureaux provide free, confidential, impartial and independent advice on a very broad range of subjects, including debt, benefits, housing, legal matters, employment, immigration and consumer issues. CABs are open to everyone regardless of race, gender, sexuality or disability. CABs covers advice in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Community Legal Advice
Call 0845 345 4 345 for free and confidential advice paid for by legal aid.
If you live on a low income or benefits you can get independent advice about debt, education, benefits and tax credits, employment and housing problems. They can also direct you to other sources of help including local advice services. Calls cost no more than 4p per minute from a BT landline but calls from mobiles are usually more.  Worried about the cost? Ask an advisor to call you back or text 'legalaid' and your name to 80010 and get a call back within 24 hours.

Law Centres
Law Centres specialise in social welfare law which includes: welfare rights; disability rights; immigration and asylum; housing and homelessness; employment rights; community care and all forms of discrimination. Other areas of work vary according to local need and may include public law, mental health, education rights and young people and children’s rights. They provide free, independent professional legal advice to people in their local area and employ solicitors, barristers, legal advisors and community workers.

Liberty
Staffed by trained lawyers, the service is free and open to everyone living in England and Wales. You can obtain advice on human rights issues and, where appropriate obtain suitable referrals. Even if they cannot take on your case themselves, they may be able to provide some general advice and will try to refer you to another law firm or other organisation which is better equipped to advise you.
