Stonewall Scotland welcomes the news that same-sex couples in Scotland have equality in adoption and fostering at last.
New rules which came into force on Monday 28th September mean same-sex couples have the same rights as mixed-sex couples.
What all children need and deserve most of all is a safe, secure, loving and stable home environment and same sex couples are equally able to provide this as opposite sex couples.
This legislation means that there will be hopefully less children in care homes and more with homes and families of their own.
The changes in the law have come about after years of campaigning from Stonewall Scotland and other organisations, as well as many individuals.
