Support Stonewall Scotland

On this page, you can find out more about how you can get involved and support Stonewall Scotland. Listed below are the four main ways in which you can help:

Become a 'Stonewall Scotland friend'

We rely on individuals - like you - to support our work as we continue to campaign for LGBT equality. If you want to help build a Scotland where lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people are not only entitled to equal legal treatment but afforded it too, please become a Friend or Close friend of Stonewall Scotland today.

To become a Friend of Stonewall Scotland, donate £5 or more a month and support our vital work. You'll receive:

  • Two issues of the Stonewall Friends magazine, highlighting recent success and current work across Great Britain
  • Twice yearly Stonewall Scotland newsletter
  • A Stonewall star lapel pin
  • Regular campaign updates
  • Invites to special Friend evenings and events, meeting our celebrity and star supporters

Donate £20 or more a month and you'll be a Close friend of Stonewall Scotland and enjoy a range of exclusive benefits.

As our finance department is based in the London office, you will need to set up payment via the Stonewall online Direct Debit or application form, but as long as you have a Scottish address, you will automatically be registered as a Scottish Friend or Close friend and your donation will support our campaigning activity in Scotland.

To set up a direct debit online now, click here

Alternatively, to download an application form that you can fill in and post to the London office, click here.

Please send the application form to: Stonewall, Tower Building, 11 York Road, London SE1 7NX.

Tell us your stories and experiences

We are always looking for the stories and experiences of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people to inform our campaigning and lobbying work. If you have encountered discrimination or have other experiences that may inform our work, we'd like to hear your story. With your permission, we may occasionally offer your story to the media to highlight the issues facing LGBT people in Scotland. This can be done anonymously if you do not feel comfortable having your name in the news.

Stonewall Scotland also receives many media enquiries asking for LGBT people to speak about their experiences. We are looking to promote positive examples of LGBT people to challenge negative perceptions on a wide range of matters, such as parenting and civil partnerships for example. But it is also important that we highlight the negative issues that LGBT people in Scotland face, such as bullying in the workplace, discrimination in the health service and homophobic hate crime. Your stories and experiences can make a huge difference in terms of raising awareness of such issues in the media.

If you are able to help, please download our case study form, fill it in and then email or post it back to us using the contact details at the end of the form. If you would like to discuss this in more detail, please call Christina Stokes on 0131 557 3789, or email christina.stokes@stonewallscotland.org.uk.

Lobby your local MSP or MP

If you have been discriminated against, harassed, bullied, given a poor service in housing, education or health becuase of your sexual orientation or want to lobby for LGBT rights, a concise letter to your local MSP or MP can sometimes help.
