the lesbian, gay and bisexual charity

Stonewall runs a series of seminars as one of the exclusive benefits of the Diversity Champions programme. The seminars offer practical advice and guidance from Stonewall experts and guest speakers from fellow Diversity Champion members.

Our next seminars:

Leading Inclusively: Diversity skills for line managers
Wednesday 23 May, 1.00pm – 3.30pm
University of Cambridge
1st Floor, Hicks Room, University Centre
Granta Place, Mill Lane
Cambridge CB2 1RU

The culture of an organisation starts at the top, but gay employees’ day-to-day experiences are often determined by the attitudes and behaviours of middle managers – both good and bad. This seminar will draw on recent Stonewall research and evidence from our Workplace Equality Index to hear how leading organisations are tackling manager’s skills and attitudes to ensure they are leading with inclusion.

Speakers at the workshop include Daniel Danso, Client Group Manager, Workplace programmes at Stonewall, who will present on Stonewall’s recent research and case studies. Peter Hall, Senior Advisor for Equalities and Inclusion at Southend-On-Sea Borough Council, will present on how he has approached training managers on diversity issues in leadership. Keela Shackell, Project Manager at the Environment Agency, will discuss how they have integrated equality into their performance management system for managers.

The seminar programme is a free and exclusive benefit for Diversity Champions - all staff from member organisations are welcome to attend. This is a good opportunity for colleagues working in the East of England and surrounding area to network with each other and Stonewall staff.

Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, and spaces are strictly limited.

Delegates at this seminar will be the first to receive a copy of the new guide, containing clear advice, practical examples and case studies. Stonewall will present key findings and recommendations from the guide and attendees will also hear presentations sharing good practice from Google and IBM, two of our featured employers.

The seminar programme is a free and exclusive benefit for Diversity Champions - all staff from member organisations are welcome to attend. We particularly encourage relocation specialists and colleagues responsible for employees on international assignments to attend.
