27th & 28th November, Henley Business School

The focus of the Leadership Programme this year is effective leadership through authenticity and aims to explore the impact of sexual orientation.  Delegates explore these issues with other lesbian, gay and bisexual professionals in a safe environment.

Successful delegates will consider a current leadership challenge for them over the two days through action learning sets and co-coaching sessions, alongside the stimulus and challenge of other participants and leading thinkers in the field.

Successful applicants will be senior lesbian, gay or bisexual leaders from a variety of sectors.

The programme is now closed for applications.

This year the Leadership Programme is being kindly supported by Morgan Stanley.

Leadership Programme 2008

Objective

To provide individual LGB employees with new knowledge, skills and inspiration to help them be effective leaders in the workplace, benefiting both them and the organisations they work for.

Benefits for the Individual

  1. Challenge your existing behaviours and preconceptions of what it is to be gay and a leader to realise your full potential
  2. Acquire new skills and strategies to help you deal with current work issues and increase your capacity to create positive change
  3. Understand the barriers to exercising effective leadership, whether they arise externally or from within yourself, and what to do about these
  4. Network with senior openly gay professionals across the private, public and third sector

Benefits for the Organisation

  1. Build organisational capacity, creating a more diverse future leadership team — 60% of world CEOs cite lack of employee skills as the main barrier in transforming their organisation
  2. Improve retention of your LGB staff through developing their talent
  3. Improve the productivity of your people — they perform better when they can be themselves, as recent Stonewall research on productivity demonstrates
  4. Demonstrate to your employees and other stakeholders your commitment to workplace diversity, improving your reputation and creating positive PR

Audience

LGB staff from all sectors with the potential to be senior decision makers within five years. Typically, participants will already be highly credible within their organisation, at middle management level with a 5–10 year proven track record of delivery.

Successful delegates will bring a current leadership challenge to work on over the two days. We particularly welcome applications from underrepresented group within the gay community particularly gay and bisexual women and those from minority ethnic groups.
