LGBT experiences of further and higher education

We know that many LGBT people experience bullying at school – but what happens when they leave?

We know that many lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans people have negative experiences at school, but we know less about their experiences of college and university. That’s why Stonewall Scotland are holding a series of focus groups with students and staff to find out more about the barriers that LGBT people face when accessing further and higher education in Scotland.

We want to hear from you if you are either:

  • an LGBT student in further or higher education (including vocational courses), or;
  • someone working in further or higher education

This is a great opportunity to share your experiences of our education system, whether good or bad, as well as to have an impact on Stonewall Scotland’s work.

If you would like to take part in one of our focus groups, please book a place on one of the sessions below. If you have any questions about taking part, please email our Policy and Research Officer at

All focus groups will be held at Stonewall Scotland’s offices at the Mansfield Traquair Centre, Mansfield Place, Edinburgh. All attendees will have their travel costs compensated.
