Volunteers are integral to the work we do, and we aim to provide the best volunteer experience possible. We have a wide range of opportunities available, and all our current roles are listed below. These are updated regularly, so keep an eye out for the perfect opportunity for you.
Information Service volunteer - London
Stonewall’s Information Service answers questions from the public on any issue affecting LGBT people – from LGBT people themselves, their family, friends, teachers, employers and allies. We respond to over 5,500 queries a year on a wide variety of topics including coming out, partnership rights, parenting issues, discrimination, hate crime and immigration.
The service directs people to Stonewall’s own resources and signposts to other organisations who can provide advice or more specific support to help them further. We don’t give advice or provide counselling services.
Volunteers form a key part in the delivery of this service by responding to queries by phone and email and logging queries within our CMS system. Please note you must be able to attend a training day on October 5th, 10am to 4pm at our offices in Farringdon, London.
Community Campaigning volunteer - London
Campaigns, Policy and Research is at the heart of the LGBT movement, working tirelessly to end homophobia, biphobia and transphobia both here and abroad. We challenge governments, politicians, schools, sports teams, and everything in between, to step up and take action in the fight for LGBT equality. We care deeply about making sure everyone is accepted without exception and produce campaigns that help make this a reality for LGBT people and their allies around the world.
This volunteer opportunity will support the campaigns team’s community campaigning activity. Over the summer, we will be asking community groups and individuals we meet at Prides to ‘come out for LGBT’ by engaging local businesses and organisations standing up for LGBT equality.
Diversity Champions volunteer - London
The Diversity Champions programme works with over 750 organisations including all three armed forces, some of the world’s biggest brands and hundreds of public services across the UK and overseas. The team facilitates best practise sharing and industry benchmarking to ensure that LGBT employees, customers and service users are accepted without exception.
In this role you will be sorting, researching and responding to prospective Diversity Champion organisations who have made contact through our website to enquire about programme membership.
Empowerment Programmes volunteer - Edinburgh
Stonewall Scotland’s Empowerment Team aims to empower individuals to make a difference for LGBT people at work, at home and in their communities. This role will support across Stonewall Scotland's Empowerment Programmes, including our Leadership programmes (such as the LGBT Role Models and Allies), our conferences and Education Programmes (including Train the Trainer and School Role Models). These personal and professional development programmes enable LGBT individuals and allies to step up as leaders within their organisations, schools and communities to help create an environment where all LGBT people are accepted, without exception.

Volunteering at Stonewall
Volunteers are an integral part of Stonewall’s work. They support us across all our work, and are a key part of each department and essential to Stonewall’s mission.
Stonewall recognises the huge contribution volunteers make to our work; we benefit from the skills, experience and enthusiasm volunteers bring. In return, we believe volunteers should be able to gain personal benefits from their time volunteering with us, and we are committed to managing volunteers in a way that allows this.
