Pronouns: she/her

I lead the Education & Youth team at Stonewall. We work with schools, colleges and local authorities to make sure LGBTQ+ children and young people are free from bullying, have access to effective LGBTQ+ safeguarding, and experience inclusive educational environments. These are places where all children and young people learn about the LGBTQ+ people who’ve shaped our past and present and will shape our future, have facilities and admin processes are inclusive, and have access to role models and careers guidance that support them to thrive.

My team runs the School & College Champions programmes and CYPS champions programme, offer a range of e-learning opportunities and member-only and free to access resources, and partner to create specialist guidance and offer knowledge sharing events. We work with our Research Team on key insight work, such the seminal School Report and Shut Out report. We also work directly with young LGBTQ+ campaigners to support them in changing the world around them. Alongside all of that, I am also Stonewall’s Designated Safeguarding Lead.

Before joining Stonewall, I worked in the student unions’ sector for twenty years, working to support students in community building and changemaking at four different universities. When I was at university myself, I was the national student president for Amnesty International. I was also a trustee for a national youth voice charity, and until recently, chair of trustees at my childrens’ primary school.
