Useful resources for schools on working with parents

Published in December 2019

Parents and carers are central to your school community.

With the new Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) guidance coming into effect from September 2020, we’ve brought together some useful resources on working with parents and carers.

Department for Education

Relationships, Sex and Health Education: guides for schools, primary and secondary (2019)

PSHE Association

Relationships Education and RSE: guides to supporting parental engagement, primary and secondary (2019)

National Governance Association and Parentkind

Parental Engagement: a guide for governing boards (2019)

If you're looking for information for the parents and carers of LGBTQ+ children and young people, FFLAG have a wide range of resources and information including booklets for parents or carers whose child has come out as gay or bi, or whose child has come out as trans.

The list is not exhaustive, but we hope these resources can help you if you ever need them. If none of these are what you’re looking for, or you think there’s something missing from this list, get in touch with our Info Service.
