Children and Young People's Services Champions programme
Our Children and Young People's Services (CYPS) Champions programme helps local authorities and children and young people's organisations put LGBT inclusion at the heart of their services to support children and young people.
We’ve worked with numerous Local Authorities and our members benefit from that wealth of experience. Your dedicated account manager will help you to devise innovative, bespoke solutions based on your organisation's needs. We’ll work with you to better support vulnerable lesbian, gay, bi and trans children and young people and to improve the mental health and wellbeing of those young people. You’ll have access to a wealth of expert support including tailored advice, a choice of online learning modules or bespoke training, and the resources and tools you need to evaluate and improve your policies and practices.
Why does it matter?
- 84% of trans young people have self-harmed. For lesbian, gay, and bi young people who aren’t trans, 61% have self-harmed
- 45% of trans young people have attempted to take their own life. For lesbian, gay and bi young people who aren’t trans, 22% have attempted to take their own life
- Just 40% of LGBT young people have an adult at home they can talk to about being LGBT
